Consumer Education

The International Code Council Foundation is dedicated to supporting ICC Members and ICCF Partners in their efforts to educate consumers about building safety and its critical role in life safety and property protection. The Foundation supports consumer outreach at the local level by ICC Members as it is essential to achieve this education goal. The Foundation collaborates with various groups to ensure its partners receive technically accurate, reliable and useful resources to help support community outreach and education.

Building Safety Week

First observed in 1980, Building Safety Week annually raises public awareness of critical safety issues affecting every person, regardless of age or occupation. These entail the structural soundness of the buildings where we live and work, reliability of fire prevention and suppression systems, plumbing and mechanical systems, and energy efficiency and sustainability. CODiE the Code Official

The Foundation’s favorite mascot is receiving an extreme makeover! CODiE the Code Official, formerly known as CODiE the Cougar will be available in new coloring books, children’s activities, and photo contests. Check back soon for details!

Consumer Resources

The Foundation partners with the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes, Inc. – FLASH^® to offer consumer information that focuses on educating consumers and building professionals about the importance of strengthening homes and safeguarding families from disasters. Learn more!
