September 4, 2009

Washington, D.C. --- The International Code Council Foundation (ICCF) today announced the recipients of six scholarships that will provide financial assistance to college freshman interested in the study of engineering, architecture or construction technology programs. The individual awards range from $1,000 to $2,500 and include students from the University of Alabama, University of Davis California, Loyola University and University of Texas at Arlington.

“The ICC Foundation Student Scholarship Program is an essential element of the Foundation’s programs and the Code Council’s membership,” said Richard P. Weiland, President of the International Code Council Foundation. “Maintaining a high caliber of talent in the building safety field only is possible through excellence in education.”

ICCF established the scholarship program to promote building safety, fire prevention and energy efficiency through support for the education of future code officials, to reinforce professions that contribute to code development and use codes, and honor those who are essential to the formation of the International Code Council. Donations from International Code Council members, Chapters and other contributors fund the scholarships.
